You can delete your Mechi account and its data at any time. The quickest way is inside the app. If you cannot use the app, you can ask us by email.
Delete in the app
- Open Mechi and tap Profile.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Delete my account.
- Enter your password and confirm.
Your account is deleted immediately.
Ask us by email
If you no longer have the app or cannot log in, email [email protected] from the email address on your Mechi account, with the subject "Delete my Mechi account". We will confirm the request and delete the account within 7 days.
What is deleted
- Your profile: name, surname, email, date of birth, gender and preferences, bio.
- All your photos, including the photo files.
- Your location, likes and passes, and matches.
- The messages in your chats, for both people.
- Blocks, reports linked to you, and your Premium payment records.
What may be kept, and for how long
- Copies in our providers' backups may remain for up to 30 days before they are overwritten.
- Safaricom keeps its own records of M-Pesa payments you made, under its own policies.
- Any Premium time you have left ends, without a refund.
Deleting your account cannot be undone. You are welcome to sign up again later with a new account.
